Growing Roots, Building Communities: Inspired by Sylvia's Legacy.
My mother was the most caring, loving, and giving person I've ever known. During the summertime, she would wake me up early in the morning to pick fresh vegetables and fruits from our garden. We would pack the food in paper bags, load them into a wagon, and go door to door, visiting people in the community. We gave them the food and had conversations about family and community matters. This created a healthier, more connected community.
During the harvest season, my parents taught me how to steam and cool down butter beans, pack them in storage bags, and store them in the freezer. This ensured we had food to eat during the winter. These valuable lessons are traditions that we should pass down to future generations.
The vision of the Sylvia Harvest Foundation is to create a world where every community has access to fresh, locally grown produce, fostering sustainable agriculture, and promoting food security. We envision a future where our efforts lead to healthier, more connected communities, empowered with the knowledge and resources to thrive. These principles were inspired by my mother's dedication and the meaningful connections she built within our community.
That is the reason why we need the Sylvia Harvest Foundation.
